VBRGS was honored to be a part of the momentous ground breaking ceremony for the new library and
community center in Hartford, MI. Although the weather that day was not ideal it did not dampen the
spirits of all who attended. This wonderful addition to the community was the vision of  Bonna Vanderlyn
who wished to honor the memory of her late husband Art. Bonna is a trail blazer in the business world.
She very successfully owns and operated Hardings Friendly Markets in Hartford and has been
enormously kind to her "hometown" giving much anonymously as well as openly. Her generous
donation makes this all possible and gives VBRGS a new home.

Along with the Vanderlyn donation other contributions are making this project possible. Some of these
are a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities as well as t he future commitments from
the Pokagon Tribe and the VBRGS. There will continue to be ongoing fund raising efforts to help with
purchases that are still needed.

Greg Kil of Kil Architecture in South Bend, IN and CPM Construction in St. Joseph, MI are in charge of
the build and we hope that you check out their progress as you pass through Hartford. The site is on E.
Main St. (Red Arrow Hwy.)  just east of the stop light in the center of town.
